A majority of the work I produce is conceptual portraiture. I get these ideas in my head of somebody in a strange situation. From there I’ll jot down a few notes and get someone to pose for me within the following week. It’s always small things that inspire me, too. A story someone is telling, a bowl of fruit, negative space, soft lighting, etc. I look for an odd story everywhere I go.
We often find ourselves alone in dealing with some sort of daily struggle, and with my portraits I sometimes like to show that, but with a bit of a twist. Sometimes, they’re based off of a really bad pun I found amusing. I really just want to capture something that’ll make you stop for a second and consider the situation. Something that is slaphappy and whimsical.
